Set within a beautifully restored 17th-century tithe barn on the Yarnton Manor estate in Oxfordshire, the Lanier Theological Library forms a unique architectural setting.

Originally part of the wider estate, the barn has been carefully transformed into a dedicated research library, supporting theological study and scholarship while retaining the character and scale of its original structure.

Nineteen Interiors were appointed to develop refined, functional interiors that complement the building’s heritage while supporting its role as a calm and considered learning environment.

Design Overview

A significant element of the project involved the design and development of bespoke joinery, including the integration and refinement of library bookcases tailored to the scale and proportions of the space.

Furniture, rugs and soft furnishings were carefully sourced to introduce warmth and texture, balancing the architectural solidity of the barn with a more refined and considered interior layer.

This included overseeing installation and working closely with specialist trades to deliver a cohesive result across the building.
